About Civapalooza
The Games
Civapalooza is a competitive tournament series following the Sid Meier's Civilization series. The games are hosted at a rotating location during the summer. Governance in the form of the Office of the Commissioner is determined by a complementary Winter Games series held in December. The tournament's inaugural season was in the Summer of 2022.
A Legacy of Map Game
The founding members have been playing Civilization together since November 2013, bringing over a decade of competitive experience to the tournament series.
The Office of the Commissioner
Born in San Francisco, Bernie earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara in Computer Science with a focus on computer security and distributed systems. Bernie brings breadth in experience to the office, with 1,500 hours in Sid Meier's Civilization V, 1,000 in Civilization VI, and 230 in Civilization VII along with 2,000 hours in Star Wars The Old Republic (not really relevant to map games, but he's really proud of it).

Conrad is serving as Commissioner of Civapalooza for the third time, having previously held the office in 2023 and 2024. Conrad also holds the distinction of Civapalooza Champion for both 2023 and 2024, making him tied for most decorated player in tournament history.
